At the YPSG meeting several people were expressing an interest in internet support groups. This is one that I used to participate in (below) and it looks like it may have been improved.

There has also been a lot of discussion recently about the size of our group and how it seems to be getting smaller. This led to some discussion about ways to let new Parkinson's patients know we're here. Rich has suggested that we print some copies of our "manifesto" and distribute it to some key places, such as the neurologist's offices. I will send a copy in a separate e-mail.

I think that is a good idea, but I also think any such effort should be coordinated with the PPSG (Parkinson's Patients Support Groups). Their entire existence is to promote the individual success of our local support groups. They have already sent information to strategic locations to promote our support groups. Our information is published regularly in their newsletter. I think the way to promote our group is to support them.

Having said that, I have to admit that the strategy has not worked. One reason for our decline in membership may be location. I think people think of our group as serving the Los Altos area, rather than the south bay and the penninsula.

That's all for now. Thank you all for your support. 2007 was a tough year for me. My hope is that 2008 is a good year for all of us.
